My qualifications

A:

I joined ICIMOD in August 1984 and have subsequently assumed key positions in the Administration and Finance division. I have been promoted to lead as Head of the Administration and Logistics Unit, and concurrently head of Procurement for the past seven years.  Prior to that, I was Officer In-Charge of Procurement and Motorpool functions.

Over my thirty years of experience in the Centre, I’ve gained depth and breadth of knowledge of products and technological development in the national and international markets. And over the course of my tenure, I supervised the construction of buildings including the architectural design competition for our new annex building and installation of 150 kWp grid connect solar PV system at the headquarters premises. This is a pioneering achievement for ICIMOD, since we are the only institution outside the Government of Nepal which contributes back to the national electrical grid. I also played an instrumental role in developing and implementing policy and procedures for procurement and motorpool functions. During this time as well, I had an opportunity to make a study visit to the UN Environment Programme/Environment Assessment Programme for Asia and the Pacific, Asian Institute of Technology, Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok, Thailand and I’ve successfully completed a number of procurement, management and technical trainings, including an extended training course on ‘Vehicular Air Pollution’ organized by the Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University, Nepal and the University of Calgary, Canada; an on-line procurement training on ’Managing Supplier Performance’ from Next Level Purchase, USA; a training on ‘Automotive Emission Control & Drivability Diagnostic’ organized by the International Automotive Technicians’ Network, USA and the Transport Management Department of the Government of Nepal; and a number of finance and management trainings organized by ICIMOD as part of its capacity development programme.
