Remote Sensing and Geoinformation Associate, Geospatial Solutions

My role at ICIMOD

I have been working with ICIMOD since 2018 as a Remote Sensing & GIS Associate with the country office in Afghanistan. I am responsible for geographic and geo-spatial data collection, management and mapping of tabular data, which supports activities related to development projects of the Ministry of Agriculture Irrigation and Livestock and its monitoring and evaluation information management system. I produce maps using ESRI ArcGIS, ENVI and Erdas Imagine software and use interpolation techniques of climatic and other point data to create weather, precipitation and crop maps. I calculate various agricultural indices using Landsat/sentinel images in ArcGIS or Erdas Imagine using Python and Java. I also train field data collectors in field data collection using a GPS camera for various crops.
