My role at ICIMOD

As a programme officer, I support successful programme implementation from planning and reporting to monitoring and evaluation. Moreover, I also support in developing agriculture-related information systems and services for the programme.

How do you protect the pulse of the planet?

A:

The MENRIS Regional Programme provides data and information that helps to measure the pulse of the planet, providing opportunities to bridge the science and practice gap by adopting emerging technologies in Earth observation and geospatial solutions in the HKH.

What is your favorite part of the work you do at ICIMOD?

A:

Working with the rich and diverse geography and culture of the HKH is what makes the work I do fun. Moreover, creating innovative solutions to solve difficult problems faced by the people living in the region gives me the energy to do more.

I love working with local communities. Apart from work, I love playing different sports.

My qualifications

A:

After completing an MSc. in agriculture, I have been working mostly in the agriculture development sector and programme management. I worked with NGOs based in Nepal in livelihood promotion and the moved to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) in the Pacific region as agriculture and food security officer, understanding the impact of climate change in the small islands developing states and implementing projects to address food insecurity. I also worked on FAO’s Global Environment Facility projects development for four island nations. Apart from my professional experience in agriculture, I also have professional experience and strengths in project formulation and management and monitoring and evaluation.
