SSA - Private Sector Engagement,
I explore potential leveraging for ICIMOD in green finance and identify potential private sector partnerships for bankable projects for sustainable and resilient economic growth in the region. Working with various initiatives, I identify business opportunities which can attract private sector investments through integrated and innovative market solutions which can accelerate investments for sustainable mountain development.
How do you protect the pulse of the planet?
Climate change is an inconvenient truth in the HKH region where effects of climate change are perhaps seen before anywhere else on the planet. In this context, mitigation and adaptation are essentially important to protect the pulse and my role in helping to unlock finance for mitigation and adaptation strategies for people and industries facilitate mitigation and adaptation.
What is your favorite part of the work you do at ICIMOD?
I enjoy working with a multidisciplinary team which generates and shares expert scientific knowledge on climate change and helping to translate this evidence-based research into climate action on the ground.
What are you passionate about?
I’m passionate about collaboration and building relationships and have an avid interest in access to finance and market-led growth. I am also an avid traveler and truly believe that travelling is essential in order to understand the wider world.
Prior to joining ICIMOD, I worked as an Assistant Relationship Manager at Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Ltd., Kathmandu, where I managed and nurtured high profile corporate relationships. I am from Kathmandu and have experience working at a Nepalese conglomerate where I learnt few tricks of the trade in terms of doing business in Nepal. I’ve also worked in an INGO which emphasizes an inclusive market-driven development approach.
I completed an MBA with a specialization in finance and strategy from the School of Management, within the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. Prior to this, I completed my undergraduate degree in economics and international relations from Connecticut College, USA.
