I protect the pulse of the planet through dissemination and outreach, where I help amplify our key messages to the rest of the world.
What is your favorite part of the work you do at ICIMOD?
I am among the very fortunate mountain men to have the opportunity to work in such a prestigious organisation as ICIMOD. I enjoy the multicultural environment, opportunities to learn new things every day, friendly and caring colleagues and the remarkable team spirit in my unit.
What are you passionate about?
I’m passionate about teaching, playing football, cycling and reading books.
My qualifications
I started my career at the age of 20 as a school teacher, then worked in a bank for a short time before I joined ICIMOD as a secretary. I worked in a role as a division secretary and also in a role similar to present-day graphic designers as a desktop publisher. I was then requested to play the role of executive secretary with full responsibility for a department’s administrative work.
I also worked as an Information Centre Coordinator and played a major role in setting up our institutional reository, HimalDoc. Throughout my tenure at ICIMOD, I have supported a very large number of workshops, conferences, training programmes; coordinated our first Knowledge Sharing Training; and have coordinated numerous knowledge sharing activities like knowledge fairs, open houses, and photo exhibitions. I have a diploma in secretarial science from CTEVT, Government of Nepal, and a Bachelor’s degree majoring in mass media from Tribhuvan University (Kathmandu Shikshya Campus). I am a certified knowledge management practitioner.
