My role at ICIMOD

Mr Basant Pant, a forester by profession, is a Programme and Research Associate in the High Value Products and Value Chain action area of Sustainable Livelihoods and Poverty Reduction (SLPR). Mr Pant provides technical and financial support for projects, supports the implementation of the annual work plans and budgets of the action area, participates in programme implementation activities, and undertakes field visits to support partners in project implementation. He has a Master’s degree in Watershed Management from the University of Forestry, Pokhara, Nepal, and completed a postgraduate course on ‘Protecting Mountain Biodiversity’ in 2010, University of Turin, Torino, Italy. Prior to joining ICIMOD, Mr Pant worked as a Field Officer in Green Governance Nepal, as a Rangeland Resource Person for Northern Mountain Conservation Projects, WWF, Nepal, and as a Team Leader in two small grant projects funded by the Rufford Maurice Laing Foundation, United Kingdom.
