Pilot Projects Achieve Targets in Upper Indus Basin

The District Water Supply Department has plans to extend pipelines to all households. However, reviving or increasing discharge simultaneously will be of utmost importance given the growing scarcity of water. Similarly, there is a need to create an institutional mechanism for the maintenance of the spring.

The training was designed to provide a range of skills and expertise required to understand, analyse and interpret remote sensing and other spatial datasets for forest officers and people from similar institutions.

In collaboration with the Department of Hydro Met Services (DHMS) Bhutan, and the Danish Hydraulic Institute (DHI) (India), ICIMOD trained thirteen hydrologists on using Mike 11 hydrological and hydrodynamic models for developing flood outlooks and flood forecasts.
