20 Mar 2014The Rural Livelihoods and Climate Change Adaptation in the Himalayas (Himalica) Initiative of ICIMOD in partnership with the Institute for International Development (IID) and in collaboration with the Ministry of Environmental Conservation and Forestry (MoECAF) of Myanmar launched a three-year pilot project for improving livelihoods of indigenous people in the five villages of Ngwangshe and Kalaw townships in the west bank of the Inlay lake in Shan State of Myanmar.

05 Mar 2014A team of scientists led by ICIMOD’s Patrick Wagnon visited Mera Glacier in the Hinku-Hunku valley of eastern Nepal in November 2013. The visit was a bi-annual trip to assess the annual and seasonal glacier-wide mass balance using the glaciological method, and to install and maintain some meteorological stations to understand the processes that drive the melting or accumulation of this glacier.
