Partner selection criteria

Himalica initiative is implementing various activities in the areas of capacity building, collaborative action research, and policy support. These activities are carried out in collaboration with selected partner institutions. Therefore, the following selection criteria will apply to all non-government organizations who wish to partner with Himalica to implement a specific activity as a partner institution.

Surendra Raj Joshi, Programme Coordinator, Himalica

Dr Surendra Raj Joshi has over  20 years’ experience in development sector with a range of programmes and projects in support of rural income diversification, livelihood improvement, and pro-poor and climate resilient value chain  development of various agricultural and forestry products.

Sanjeev Bhuchar, Pilot Projects Component Lead for Himalica

Dr Sanjeev Bhuchar, Senior Watershed Management Specialist at ICIMOD, has about 20 years of practical experience in the field of sustainable land, water, and watershed management, mostly in the Hindu Kush Himalayan region. He has worked with G.B. Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment and Development, and with HELVETAS Swiss Inter cooperation in Afghanistan as Project Manager of Sustainable Land Management Project and Technical Advisor. He has also worked previously with ICIMOD in various capacities.

Arabinda Mishra, Action Research Component Lead for Himalica

Dr Arabinda Mishra is a Senior Social Scientist under the Livelihood Theme at ICIMOD. From 2005-2015, he was Dean of the Faculty of Policy and Planning, TERI University and had the concurrent responsibility of Director, Earth Science and Climate Change Division in TERI from 2008 to 2013. Dr Mishra led TERI’s engagement with the Government of India and a number of State governments in the preparation of action plans on climate change.

Dhrupad Chaudhary, Regional Programme Manager, Adaptation to Change
 
Dr Dhrupad Choudhury joined ICIMOD in 2006 as Programme Coordinator of IFAD Technical Assistance Grant Programme. He has a PhD in Ecology from the University of Oxford, UK, where he was an INLAKs scholar. Prior to joining ICIMOD, he was with the GB Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment Development from 1991 to 2006 as Scientist In-charge of the North East Unit. He has worked among ethnic communities in North East India on issues of livelihood security and has a special interest in traditional practices in natural resource management, access and control regimes, and livelihoods.
