The honeybee project, in partnership with the Beekeeping Development Section of the Department of Agriculture, Nepal, organised a four-day ‘Writeshop to Finalise the Trainers’ Resource Manual for Farmers’ Level Training in Beekeeping’ from 5 to 8 April 2011 at ICIMOD. The workshop brought together 10 resource persons who were assigned to write 28 different sessions (topics) along with resource materials for each technical session. This manual is being produced for use by different beekeeping organisations (government organisations, NGOs, and private sector organisations) for the effective implementation of farmers’ level training activities across the country. All session outlines and resource materials prepared by the resource person were presented in a series of plenary sessions to give other resource persons and related professionals an opportunity to provide comments and suggestions for further improvement. The writeshop was effective in preparing the manual having a number of photos and drawings so as to make it understandable to a layman, including illiterate farmers/beekeepers.
