Regional Training on Springshed Management for Socio-Ecological Resilience in the Hindu Kush Himalayas

Much of the training on springshed management hitherto has targeted civil society organizations across the HKH region. A need to offer this training to researchers, practitioners, and community members who can play a key role in scaling out springshed development and management methodology and integrate conceptual and field experiences into their areas of work and portfolios has also been identified.

Call for applications: HUC - IHCAP Glacier Monitoring Training 2018

The initiatives will fund the participation of at least two Afghan professionals in the HUC–IHCAP Glacier Monitoring Training. Building stakeholder capacity to monitor and implement effective evidence-based management of water resources – including glaciers and snow, adaptation and development planning, and regional cooperation – is a priority for SWaRMA.

SDC HUC Focus Grants: Call for Proposals

Globalization and climate change have an increasing influence on the stability of fragile mountain ecosystems and the livelihoods of mountain people. Mountain and downstream communities are increasingly vulnerable to climate change impacts and are in pressing need of effective adaptation and mitigation measures. The resilience and adaption capacities of communities and ecosystems need to be strengthened through adaptation mechanisms that are built on both indigenous knowledge of autonomous adaptation and strong scientific evidence.

HUC TROSA Water Research Grant

TROSA is a programme led by Oxfam (Annex 1) that aims to strengthen the capacity of river basin communities and civil society so their voices can be heard in transboundary water resource management. It has four objectives: (i) improving government policies and practices; (ii) improving private sector policies and practices; (iii) strengthening the capacity of river basin communities and civil society; and (iv) strengthening the profile and influence of women.
