Dibya Gurung

Core Associate, Women Organizing for Change in Agriculture and Natural Resource Management (WOCAN)

Gurung is Core Associate at Women Organizing for Change in Agriculture and Natural Resource Management (WOCAN). She has over 24 years of experience working in rural development, natural resource conservation, climate change, and gender and social inclusion (GESI) issues in Nepal and in Asia.

She was first involved in the Annapurna Conservation Area Project, organizing local women (mother's groups) to conserve and sustainably use natural resources in the Annapurna Conservation Area. Today mother’s groups across Nepal are a strong force working for conservation and development in rural areas.

Gurung has worked for several national and international organizations such as the NTNC/ACAP, Swiss Embassy, ADB, UNICEF, UNDP, WOCAN, IFAD, ICIMOD, HIMAWANTI, DCA. She has also worked closely with the governments of Nepal, Cambodia, and Sri Lanka, assisting the integration of climate change and gender and social inclusion issues in policy papers, organizing policy dialogues/consultations and providing training on making these processes inclusive and consultative.
