International Conference on

Ecotourism in Protected Areas

Strengthening Livelihoods, Conservation, and Adaptation

19–21 May 2015
Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar

The 2015 Ecotourism Conference is Myanmar’s first international event around the theme of ecotourism and will be the Government’s launching event for their Ecotourism Policy and Management Strategy.

The key focus of the conference is on successful planning and management approaches for ecotourism in and around protected areas to strengthen livelihoods and conservation and contribute to adaptation. Ample attention will be given to various development and managerial aspects of ecotourism and the need to address climate change. Implementation of a comprehensive and inclusive ecotourism policy can be an important driving force to steer sustainable development. In addition, key focus will be brought to the roles of communities and the benefits they can derive from engaging with ecotourism.

The International Conference on Ecotourism Strengthening Livelihoods, Conservation and Adaptation will bring together a multitude of stakeholders from the Hindu Kush Himalayan Region, the Greater Mekong Sub-Region, and global ecotourism experts to deliberate on ecotourism management.
