joined ICIMOD as an Aerosol Scientist in May 2014. He received his PhD degree in Physics from University of Pune. Prior to joining ICIMOD, he held different position and worked in India, Maldives, Thailand, USA and Germany and has nearly 13 years of experience in field measurements of aerosol, solar fluxes, gaseous species and meteorological parameters in different environments in South Asia region.
At the UNEP Regional Resource Center for Asia and the Pacific (RRC.AP), he successfully developed and maintained observatories in the region. As a postdoctoral researcher at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego, Dr Praveen was a flight scientist for unmanned aircraft vehicle (UAV) measurements of aerosol, radiation and cloud physics observations. Also, he was part of the project Surya, where he measured and documented the indoor black carbon concentration and emission reduction due to the introduction of clean cook stoves. At ICIMOD, Dr Praveen will be part of developing integrated observatory system for air quality, aerosol, solar radiation and meteorology measurements and field measurement campaigns.
